The sparks flew as Lee Weymouth set to work on a bit of welding in the workshop at the Fenland Engineering Skills Centre (FESC) based within Metalcraft last week. The contract to supply various large machined and fabricated parts for medical applications has been extended until 2010. This multi-million pound contract will ensure continued employment for a large number of the 170 employees on the site.
Metalcraft have been awarded a $7.5 million dollar order for the manufacture of pressure vessels for an FPSO vessel destined for Brazil. Almost 500 tonnes of duplex stainless steel will be required to manufacture the pressure vessels, the largest being 140 tonnes, 20m long & 4.5m diameter.
